Why does God allow suffering?
Short answer
The Bible doesn't always tell us why a specific suffering happens, but it tells us God is not distant from it. In Jesus, God himself entered our suffering.
Deeper answer
Christianity does not promise a life without pain. It promises a God who is with us in pain, and who will one day make all things new.
The cross is the deepest answer: a God who would rather suffer with us and for us than stay safely far away.
From the Bible
- Romans 8:18–28
- Revelation 21:1–5
