Who is Jesus?

Short answer

Jesus is the Son of God who became human, lived a perfect life, died for the sins of the world, and rose again. Christians believe he is both fully God and fully man, the center of all of history and faith.

Deeper answer

The Christian faith is not first a set of rules or ideas — it begins with a person. Jesus of Nazareth lived in the first century, taught with unmatched authority, performed miracles, was crucified under Roman rule, and according to his followers, rose bodily from the dead three days later.

Christians believe Jesus is the long-promised Messiah of the Old Testament — God himself entering the world he made. He came to reveal God's character, to take on the weight of human brokenness, and to make a way for people to be restored to God.

To know Jesus is to know God. Everything else in Christianity flows from this.
